Egg Art Class FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1) Why should I take your course when instructions are available for free all over the internet?
This is very true. Below is an example of some of the available sites, blogs, and videos for learning Egg Art:
Learn Pysanky
That Artist Woman blog
Esmecat Flickr
All Things Ukrainian
You Tube video - How To Use The Blas-Fix egg blower
you Tube video: How To Make Ukrainian Easter Eggs
The basic instructions are free and can be found all over the internet. The differences are:
- When you subscribe to my online class, you have personal access to me, and quick answers to any and all questions that you may have.
- I have organized and re-written all the information into a structured tutorial.
- Over the years, I have developed a technique which may differ from those you find online, and I will pass these hints and tips on to you.
- I love teaching, and will be available by email for a large part of the days and the evenings, 7 days a week.
- We will proceed at your pace, and I will work with consideration to your individual style.
- You may choose from a traditional pysanka pattern, or a folk-art pattern.
- Classes are limited in order to devote sufficient time to each client. If classes are full, I will be happy to put you on a waiting list and contact you when a spot becomes available.
- In my class, you will learn different designs, and I supply easy-to-follow instructions that you can print out and keep at your work area. We've all seen the common traditional designs available in all the literature and kits. I have new and different designs for you to make.
- I have written all the lessons, and have drawn all the instruction sheets myself. They include my exact technique, any shortcuts I have learned along the way, and will hopefully make for a pleasant learning experience for you.
2) Is everything I need to start egging included in the tuition?
Only instructions are included in the tuition (plus a few tools that I make myself, and I will send you when you sign up). The instructions are written out, and emailed to you in a series. There are also downloadable instructions in PDF format. You will need to buy your own dyes, kistka (wax pen), beeswax, varnish, etc. I will send you a list of supplies that need to be purchased, and where to get them.3) Do I really need to buy all these supplies? It's like $100.00 for everything!
Yes. Well, most of them anyway. You can probably use some regular jars instead of the pint mason jars that I like, and you can go with a manual (candle warmed) kistka instead of the electric kistka. I will personalize your class to accommodate.
4) How many times can I email you before you start to get annoyed.
Unlimited. No kidding. This is my advantage over the free tutorials, and the reason you are paying me good money instead of figuring it out on your own. So email away. I'll be here. And I'll answer all of your egg art questions as soon as I receive them.
5) When does the class subscription begin?
Your subscription begins the day that I receive your payment, whether it arrives by online payment or through the mail. I will send you an email confirming your subscription, your starting and ending date, and Egg Art Class Part 1. Your supply list is free with the Free Preview Package, so you can buy your supplies in advance and then subscribe to the class when you are ready to begin egging.6) Is there a cut-off point to the class? Or can you teach me forever and ever?
Four weeks from the date you subscribe. You will receive your starting and ending date with your subscription confirmation email. This allows a week's worth of time for each part of the class so you are not rushed. If you finish the program early and want to continue on your own, I will still be available to you for mentoring during the remaining time left in your class.
7) Can children take this class?
Yes, With Supervision! The materials needed for this class include an electric heating element (wax pen or candle warmed kistka) and flammable cleaning solvent. Please use your best judgement.
8) What if I just can't learn it.
I offer a no-hassle money back guarantee. If you are at all unsatisfied with the class, you shouldn't have to pay for it, and I will refund your payment (minus $10.00 for the supplies that I ship to you).
